At the moment I’m in the process of growing my hair. I want it as long as possible for the wedding so that I can wear, it up, down, curly or straight depending on my mood! But I’m getting to the same stage I get to every late autumn, the stage at which I want something a bit different on my head. And I don’t mean a hat.
For me, the autumn weather usually arrives hand in hand with a trip to Boots to buy falling-leaf-toned hair dye. Y’see, I’m a strawberry blond. My grandmother’s long, lustrous locks were that beautiful rich auburn that you read about in Mills and Boon (which, I’d like to point out, I read for the sake of my postgrad dissertation and haven’t touched since!!) and see on the telly. And I’ve wanted to be truly flame-haired ever since I read about Lorna Hill’s wild, pony riding character Mariella with her rusty curls.
So anyway, I’m already getting fidgety about my long hair once again, and while I won’t be having it cut until after the wedding (so March) I am already spending time dreaming about how exactly I’ll wear it. In a bid to decide whether to have it long or short, dark or light, I’ve provided a few pics for your to choose between. I would like you, dear reader, to let me know how best you think I should wear my hair! So here they are:
First: Short and dark. I loved this bob, but hated growing it out – it was so heavily thinned that I ended up with straggly mullet style underneath bits as it grew longer. My hair is quite thick, so any less thinning results in the attractive Penny Crayon triangle bob:
Second up, mid-length and highlighted. Sorry it isn’t a great pic, but it’s the only one I can find with my hair like that. This was the look I sported during my year in Stirling studying for my publishing masters. I let my hair dry into waves overnight rather than blow drying it straight:
And finally as it is now – more or less. Longer, mostly natural (there’s still some colour coming out, but the roots are real!) and blow-dried straight.
So come on dear stylish reader, which do you like best?
