Fit Flops

Posted by: Caroline on: May 18, 2009

Do you Fit Flop? I had heard of these shoes from a friend who swore by them for toning her calves with minimal effort, so I was eager to try them! I opted for the Fit Flop Electra in gold, which I figured would be a perfect summery shade to add sparkle to maxi dresses and skirts…

Ok, to begin with, I’m up for anything that claims to help firm and tone without too much effort. I walk everywhere anyway, so a bit of additional oomph in my step isn’t gonna hurt, right?! My only pause over these shoes was the flip-flop aspect. See, ever since I was a child I have struggled with the thong aspect of flip flops. When my parents and brothers would be running about the beach in £1 plastic numbers I’d be barefoot, limping over shingle. I just couldn’t stand the rubbing!

Fit Flop Electra Gold: £43.95 from Fitness Footwear

When I first put these on I was wary. They felt just a little sharp. I decided my best bet would be to wear them around the flat for a while to wear them in. The soles are incredibly comfortable – they feel like they’re made for my feet! And after a few evenings’ wear the toe post did soften up some… so I ventured out in them.

These are perfect summer Sunday afternoon park footwear. They’re comfy to wear for a stroll, and I must confess, my muscles were twinging a bit the next day, as if I’d done a bit of a workout the day before. I don’t know what the long term effects of these will be like, but if you notice my legs getting shaplier as spring progresses, you’ll know why!

They’re pretty pricey for a pair of flip flops.. but if they do they trick they’re going to be cheap as chips!!

Keep us posted!

They are very pricey for flip flops. But cheaper than gym membership! Just waiting to see how well they work!

everyone’s talking about these–how much they love them
a coworker has them in a few shades
I’m getting curious

Sounds like a good way to workout and the ines you’ve chosen are lovely.I feel tempted to try :)

GC, Cecilia – they are very comfortable… we’ll see how well they work as soon as Britain gets the weather for them! :D

Hi all! Just wanted to add my two cents :) I recently bought a pair of thong-type sandals that are the most comfortable things EVER!! See, I’m with you, gildedfolly, in that I can’t stand having something between my toes…painful! However, I wear insoles and couldn’t stand the thought of wearing tennis/athletic shoes all summer, and other comfortable sandals are becoming hard to find, what with the insoles and all. Anyway, while at work one day, I saw a flip-flop sandal by Thera Shoe. Never heard of it before. I’m not one to spend even $20 on a pair of sandals for fear of not being able to wear them comfortably. They went on sale for $9.99 so I thought I’d give them a shot. I LOVE THEM!!! The same day, a friend of mine noticed what I was wearing. She asked if they were Fit-Flops. As I told her about the Thera-Sandal, she about had a fit, as she had just spent $40 some dollars on a pair of the Fit-Flops and they looked exactly alike. I would recommend the Thera-Sandal to ANYONE who finds Fit-Flops comfy. And yes, there is absolutely a noticeable “burn” initially, as if you’ve had a workout. Have heard the same thing about MBT’s (did I get the brand right?) and Fit-Flops. Since they do run about a 1/2 size smaller than your average shoe, I was able to get them for my children as well. They also have a shoe, like MBT, but obviously much less pricey. Well worth the money, for this family. Just thought I’d share :) Blessings!

Thanks for stopping by catlover, and for the fantastic tip! I’m glad I’m not the only one with the toe-post issue! :D

Fit-Flops rock! I have suffered from very painful plantar facitis (?)
for a couple of years now. Last year someone recommended Fit-Flops for the arch support so I bought a pair. I was wearing them when I next went to the Podiatrist as they were the only thing I could wear. When the Podiatrist walked in, she said, “I see you are wearing Fit-Flops. Aren’t they great? I have three pair!” I now have a wardrobe of five pair and am pain free. What a relief! The “gym” work and nice butt are a bonus to my way of thinking.

I have just purchased my second pair of fitflops. I got my first pair last summer and absolutely love them. I have noticed a difference in the muscle tone in my legs and they are comfortable enough to wear all day. This time I bought the bronze ones that look like the gold ones above. They look great! I tell everyone who asks about them that they are well worth the money. My 64 year old mother who has all sorts of knee/ankle/leg trouble just bought a pair and is amazed at the comfort! We can all use a little extra work out, especially in the rear end!!! :)

Hi Caroline,
I love my Fit Flop too! Like yourself, I don’t like tongs and don’t like to wear them.

Then I heard about Fit Flop and gave them a try. They are very comfy. Great for the summer.

But I just don’t drive in them (for safety reason).
