Lady Luck

Posted by: Caroline on: July 13, 2009

Or in my case, lucky lady. On days like these I really do wonder whether I am one of the very luckiet ladies in the world…

To begin with, a few things that have made me feel especially lucky in recent weeks:

  • Obviously, Lauren’s violet martini sweetness last Saturday – still can’t get over the trouble she went to just to make me smile
  • A card I received from ma cherie Sarah last week, thanking me for her hen-shower-birthday presents. She wrote some of the kindest things about me – I’m holding on to the card for days when I need a confidence boost
  • The gorgeous and unexpected letter and crafted bookmark I received in the post from lovely Amy, to mark our gnome project!
  • The lovely looooong email I received from an old friend I was extremely close to at uni but haven’t seen in a few years now, thanking me for her housewarming card and catching me up on the goss
  • Another uni friend who I haven’t seen in years but have been talking to online an AWFUL LOT recently – she always makes me smile, and I love that I know I can be entirely open and honest with her without her judging me in any way
  • And a high school friend I have also started speaking to online lately, with whom I’ve found common ground to share
  • The lad in the local corner shop. There are three local corner shops, but I tend to favour one over the others for the simple reason that he has a cheeky smile and calls me babe! *blushes*
  • My Mum, my Nat, my Elena and my brothers. Always.

All good reasons to be grateful, I’m sure you’ll agree! But today I feel especially special, having received a parcel from lovely Cecilia in Canada. A couple of months back Cecilia got in touch to ask if I’d like a skirt of hers that she thought would suit me. It arrived, fit like a dream, and has seen its fair share of wear since! When I was low the other week she picked up on it and sent me a few gorgeous emails offering her support and a friendly ear. She said the only thing she could think of to cheer me up was to tell me she had another gift for me, and would post it towards the end of the week…

And today it arrived!

Rather blurry again, but you get the gist…

It fits like it was tailored for me! Needs ironing before I wear it properly, but I have an outfit planned already, based around gifted items that I’ve received over the years. Look forward to that later in the week!

So, shopperettes, what are you grateful for right now? The weather? Summer holidays? Your boyfriend/girlfriend/husband/wife/children? Share with me!

Oh lovely C – you’ve had such a lot of wonderful people around you to combat the blues that had surfaced (I’m not counting myself in that number oc course, as I now sound like an arse!) It’s always so reassuring when people do what can seem to be the littlest thing to show you that you are cared for – makes me smile and slightly less cynical for a while!

Im particularlay grateful for lovely friends too, as coincidentally my dear friend Han sent me a parcel full of goodies just because! She even included a dress of hers that she’d re-discovered during a wardrobe clear-out, and having decided that I would love it and feeling that it should travel, she sent it to me as a surprise! It’s very vintage looking and has an all-over apple print and somehow manages to fit like a dream (I think my hours plugging away at exercise has worked somewhat!) A blog post on it’s cuteness may be in order soon…

So good to hear you more like your sweet self again C.

A x

P.S. – the skirt is gorgeous by the way (though I feel it should be teamed with the awesome Nemo on Ice hat to really work!)

Lovely Lady, you absolutely count in the lot of wonderful people who surface to combat my blues! Don’t you dare discount yourself from the list – you always pop up to cheer me out of my mean reds!

Parcels are the best aren’t they – and that dress sounds ADORABLE! Apples?? Please blog it – I neeeed to see!

Cxx

P.S. Glad you approve of Nemo hat ;) – will inform Erika!

I’m happy that you have such wonderful people around you(I’m also not counting myself), it is the most valuable thing one can have, friends that make your days brighter.
Glad you enjoyed the dress. I think it looks very good on you and with that red belt :)

Grrrr – don’t make me come down there! You should all be counting yourselves in the wonderment!! :D

And thank you, my overseas stylist – you have such great taste in clothes! x
