At the time the Waterstone's job offered you security in the midst of all this credit crunch madness. And like you say, you had no way of knowing that the freelance work wouldn't dry up. Plus you get the joy of being surrounded by books all day. Which I envy when I look around the open-plan PC-filled office I work in. Books! Don’t let your hindsight be too hard on you.
