Toasty

Across the blogosphere this last week there has been one common theme: how to stay warm and stylish during the big freeze. In my office fingerless gloves are de riguer and no-one blinks when you turn up in your wellies, so I’ve been all about the boots. As I type this, in the outfit you see above, I’m cosy and warm thanks to another classic trick – layering. I’m currently wearing two pairs each of tights and socks, a vintage three-quarter-sleeved body top, a skirt, a two-layer dress, and a cardigan. When I go for a meeting in the freezing offices downstairs I add another long cardigan into the mix and stop at the drinks machine for a hand-warming hot chocolate on the way…

This is what happens when three shoe lovers go to the pub in the snow…

Following on from this, though, is another blogger-wide theme – how a girl is to cope when she can’t wear her new shoes! The sales this year have been mega, with plenty of fashionistas picking up perfect bargains to adorn their dainty wee feet… only to push them aside morning after morning for the safe, snow-friendly boot option. The answer lies in the picture above. Wear your wellies outside, but change into your new shoes when you get in! Everybody wins!
