Day 2, Part 2: Smailholm Tower, Scott’s View and St Boswell’s chippy!

Smailholm Tower

Having made a pitstop to change our clothes, we drifted out to enjoy the countryside as seen in the early evening light. We stopped off to view Smailholm Tower, a favourite haunt of Dapper’s, but were too late to actually explore the building itself. We visited Scott’s View to look out across the Eildons, dropped by the 20ft statue of William Wallace and the Temple of the Muses on the Earl of Buchan’s estate near Dryburgh, then bought our fish suppers from the St Boswell chippy, which we took back up to Scott’s View to eat in front of the setting sun.

It was, frankly, a magical evening, and a great introduction to some places I can’t wait to revisit.
