This could get quite dull on my work-from home days – afterall, if I don’t leave the house, I don’t spend anything! Hence lumping the weekend together, to at least offer a hint of change…

The monthly stock-up always comes in between £60 & £70 and includes all the basics that allow me to cook meals for the month with only a once-weekly trip to the butchers, greengrocer’s and corner shop. As well as tins of beans, tomatoes, tuna, sweetcorn, soup, etc, it includes oats for Dapper’s daily porridge fix, cereal for my breakfast and Dapper’s between-meal snacks, dried pulses & lentils for soups and broths, rice & pasta, quinoa and bulgar wheat, oils and vinegars, mustards, spices, sauces… plus frozen peas & fish fingers, and whatever meat produce is on offer/reduced and can therefore be frozen in case of emergency! The last “monthly” stock was done following my last pay day – so before Christmas! Which gives you an idea how long these things last!
