No Lies

Shamelessly nicked from Erin‘s facebook notes:

Can you answer these without fibbing?

1 What’s the last thing you put in your mouth?
My hippy mug… or the tea from within I guess.

2 Have you ever kissed anyone named Matthew?
Ummm, not that I recall. But I kissed a lot of indie boys and metal heads in my youth, most of whom went by nicknames, so it’s entirely possible…

3 Where was your profile picture taken?
In my living room.

4 Who was the last person you rode in a car with under the age of 20?
My nephew Logan.

5 Can you play guitar hero?
No. Does that stop me trying? Hell no!

6 Last time you walked further than a block?
This evening – home from work.

7 Name someone that made you laugh today?
Probably my colleague Nick – he’s generally a funny guy!

8 How late did you stay up last night and why?
I’m not certain how late, but it was definitely after midnight, through a combination of playing catch-up with my emails and facebook chat.

9 If you could move somewhere else, would you?
Not right now. But I’ll get bored eventually – I always do!

10 Ever been kissed under fireworks?
I’ve seen a fair few New Years in – so it seems impossible that I haven’t…

11 Do you believe exes can be friends?
Yes, given long enough.

12 Do you like calling or texting better?
Texting. Emailing’s better still!

13 How do you feel about Diet Dr Pepper?
I have no opinion at all!

14 When was the last time you cried really hard?
Saturday out of happiness, last Wednesday out of self-pity, two Saturdays ago out of anger and frustration…

15 Where is your biological father right now?
On his narrow boat I assume!

16 Where are you right now?
On my sofa

17 What bed did you sleep in last night?

18 What was the last thing someone bought for you?
Nick brought me a cupcake from his daughter’s 1st birthday party yesterday. Chrissie bought me a cup of tea when we landed at Stanstead on Sunday.

19 Who took your profile picture?

20 Who was the last person you took a picture of?
Me Me Me!

21 Was yesterday better than today?

22 Can you live a day without TV?
Yes, but I prefer not to.

23 Are you a bad influence?
Depends on your outlook…

24 What items could you not go without during the day?
A hairbrush – I hate knots – and tea. I get caffeine withdrawal headaches!

25 Would you share a drink with a stranger?
Depends on the stranger! 😉

26 Who was the last person you visited in the hospital?
I think it was Euan’s Nan! That must have been two years ago at least!

27 What does the last text message in your inbox say?
“Hi hon. Hope all is well. Got a show rec for you: moonlight starts 9pm on virgin. It got canceled but it was good! Not sure if you watched it (vampire alert!) xx”

28 What are you wearing?

Top and skirt: charity shop; cardi: Select; shoes: Bertie;

Only in sarcasm!

Something Kinda Ooh – Girls Aloud (still a wedding hangover!)

33 Someone knocks on your window at 2 am, who do you want it to be?
Johnny Depp, of course!

34 Who was your last missed call on your cell phone?
My Mum

I hope so

Pink sky through the window.

42 Have you ever worked in a food place?
Several. I loved it every time. Some day I hope to run my own.

43 Could you answer all of these questions honestly?

Toujours la meme

Lovely Lauren over at A Typical Atypical wrote an “accidental meme” post yesterday, inspired by Long Red Cape. It’s funnily something that I did a while back, so thought best would be just to re-post here and pass on to the wider blogosphere…

For her 200th post, Hrose of Capture the Castle wrote a gorgeous “bit” about herself, which I promptly asked if I could recreate in my own words. I’m not nearly as lyrical as she is, but this is my attempt:

I’m a girl defined by external pleasures
By what she sees, reads, hears and wears
Shaped by diaries, novels and adapted classics
By Austen and Gaskell, Dickens and Eliot,
By Dorothy Wordsworth, C S Lewis, Frances Hodgson Burnett, Lorna Hill
Dodie Smith
Jennifer Ehle, Colin Firth and Andrew Davies.
And Walt Disney.

I’m the type of girl who matches her underwear to her outifit and her shoes to her gloves and hat
I dance in the street and sing in the rain
I cook, I bake, I don’t measure and I taste
I believe that presentation is everything

I’m a country girl with city tastes – small town, big heels
Both a dog person and a cat woman
A rambler and a totterer
An eternal optimist – I want it all.

I’m a girl out of time, born to the wrong era, old-fashioned at heart and soul
Loving, not passionate
Warm, not fiery
Bluer than bronzed and rosier than ravishing
Thrifty, not cheap
And proud.

Les Memes

Lovely Jen over at Classic Catastrophe tagged me to tell you seven things you never knew you wanted to know about me. The rules are that I tell you seven random facts then tag seven bloggers I would like to know more about! I’m going to try to tell you seven things different to the 10 honest blogger facts I told you last October, and tag seven different bloggers too! So…

1) I have had dozens of different jobs. These include being a dinner lady, working in bars, restaurants, hotels, kitchens, catering companies, a newsagent, the “biscuit tin” Argos depot canteen on the M6, a sandpaper factory, a hospital laundry, Seven Stories: The Centre for Children’s Books museum, the Baltic art gallery, Jenners department store (and Boots, Debenhams and Harvey Nicks on the Elizabeth Arden, Lancome and Nina Ricci make-up counters), Waterstones (still my favourite job ever!), Hush Puppies shoe shop (my first ever job), the Inland Revenue (in tax credits) and a cold-call-centre. There were others…

2) I love spinach. The presence of spinach can totally decide my menu choice for me. Anyone who has ever sat in a restaurant and listened to me ummm and ahhh over my decision will know just how big a deal that is!

3) I cannot stand egg white. I love egg yolk (esp. with buttery toast soldiers – mmmmmmmmmmm!) but even as a grown-up even when manners demand I should, I can’t stomach the stuff. It actually makes me heave involuntarily.

4) I can’t drive. I’m absolutely useless in charge of wheels, be they on rollerskates, bikes, skateboards or cars. Wheels and I don’t mesh.

5) But I’m good on skis. If I remember correctly…

6) And I love boats! They make perfect sense to me. Which, as any helmsman will tell you, makes me a potential hazard in aforementioned cars!

7) My favourite flowers are spring cheapies. There’s nothing I love more than a bunch of daffs or tulips… preferably both!

That was much harder than I expected it to be! So, my seven bloggers…

1) Mary at Undergrad Fab
2) Katie at Macrame Owl
3) Cecilia at nurmisur
4) Zulema at Fashion and Psychology
5) Katie Oh Katie
6) Kate at All Five Horizons
7) LilliPilli at Frocks and Frou Frou

And while I’m at it, gorgeous Mary from Undergrad Fab tagged me with a lovely blogger award

Lovely blog award

For which I’m supposed to tag fifteen, so as well as the above I’ll add:

8) Lauren at A Typical Atypical
9) Shoegal Fi
10) Amy at Wonderland Boutique
11) Claira at The Koru Branch
12) Some Girl Says
13) Andrea at A Cat of Impossible Colour
14) Amy at I Love Retro Things

Over to you, lovely ladies!

My blogspot

A lot of people have been sharing pictures of their “blogspot” – where they sit to blog. Mine is… my bed! The first picture shows me in my blogspot, and once again has been made distinctly terrifying by iPhoto’s fabulous red eye reducer! The second demonstrates exactly how I spent Valentines day. I had a hot date with Sam, Dean and a glass or two of rose wine!
